Facelock is available for Nokia N9
Friday, 18 May 2012INdT application recognizes the user’s face and automatically unlocks the phone
Announced six months ago, the application of facial recognition Facelock – which, until now, was only available for Symbian smartphones, including its updates Anna and Belle – now it comes to Nokia N9 users. The app, called Qt Facelock, can be downloaded for free from Nokia’s app store.
The operation of the new version of this biometric application, developed using Qt platform, is even more convenient and faster. The program scans the user’s face – which reminds the security scenes of Hollywood movies – using the front camera of the device. After identifying the key points of the scanned face, the application asks for a security password, so the user has two options to unlock the device – by using facial scanning or entering a pre-defined password.
“The Facelock is a worldwide success. Since its launch (November 2011) until now there have been over 280,000 downloads made from over 90 countries. The N9 version already has more than 5000 downloads in just 10 days from when it was published, “says the INdT project manager, Anderson Briglia.
