Promoting greater simplicity on the interaction between men and the different interface types. This is the aim of usability, subject that was in the agenda of the World Usability Day (WUD) that took place on November 13th all over the globe. On the event organization, there were three INdT employees: Wilson Prata, Francimar Macieland Diana Fournier.
WUD, which occurs every second Thursday of November, in over 140 cities throughout the world, seeks to gather communities of professionals, industries, educators, citizens, and governmental groups to promote discussions related to usability (science that seeks to leave interfaces easy to use) and, therefore, guarantee that technology is increasingly adapted to the reality of the people that use it.
The event raised the theme “communication” and occurred at College Martha Falcão. “Usability tries to make clear, simple and fluid, this communication to successfully perform a task (human-computer interaction). Since the communication task is to send a message, it’s up to usability guarantee that flaws are diminished and that the system processes and tools developed as a support to this task are optimized,” affirms Wilson Prata, project leader for Apps Framework.
Since the subject is lightly explored, WUD began with an introductory speech explaining the concept of usability with examples of ergonomic tests and interventions. After that, “Coffee with Usability” took place, which was the moment to discuss methodologies and processes. “Even though the theme is not yet often discussed, several people became interested in participating of the event, fact that made us very happy,” comments Wilson.
