Thursday, 30 Aug 2012 WAF_5451

INdT joined the Brasil-ID project, developed by Encate – the group behind the Electronic Receipt – that aims to increasy traceability of products along the production chain, reducing the so-called ‘cost Brazil’ on what concerns to logistics.

With guidance from Encate, from the Von Braun Institute and Amazonas Economy Secretariat, INdT developed two prototypes to validate a more efficient process, making use of the RFID (radiofrequence identification) and NFC (short-distance wireless transmission) technologies.

INdT set up a RFID portal in the Nokia distribution center and another in the facilities of TNT, a logistics company that is in charge of transporting Nokia products to the end user. A demo tracked all items on multiple tax invoices and consolidated by bill of material, document that is commonly checked by the Economy Secretariat. After the pilot, a report was drafted to identify benefits and difficulties found, as well as improvement points that will work to arrive to a final solution on a future project, says project manager Leandro Ferraz.
